Ultraman Gaia

Ultraman Gaia is the successor of Ultraman Tiga and Ultraman Dyna in the first Heisei-wave of the Ultra Series revival. His first primary form was Version 1, and he is incapable of form-changing like the previous two Heisei Ultramen. Later, he gained both Version 2 and Supreme Version from Ultraman Agul's light. Ultraman Gaia takes place in yet another universe, one that is totally different from the world of the Shōwa era Ultramen (Ultraman to Ultraman 80), as well as the world of Ultraman Tiga and Ultraman Dyna. In a departure from most of the other series, there are two Ultramen as the main characters. They have conflicting philosophies in regards to defending the Earth from a mysterious, malevolent and extremely intelligent cosmic entity. The first half of the series explores the growing tension between them, and their eventual clash.

Gamu Takayama / Ultraman Gaia

Gamu Takayama is a 20-year old member of the Alchemy Stars who invented much of the technology used by XIG. He merges with Ultraman Gaia in episode 1, thus gaining the ability to assume the form of Ultraman Gaia. He joined the XIG as an analyzer in episode 2. Including the repulsor lifts that allow the Aerial Base and the XIG fighters to defy gravity. During some virtual reality experiments (performed with the secret purpose of discovering the will of the Earth), he encounters the mysterious glowing red giant, Ultraman Gaia.

GUARD (Geocentric Universal Alliance against the Radical Destruction)

GUARD (Geocentric Universal Alliance against the Radical Destruction) is a united nations defense organization formed to counter the Entity of Destruction, and is the parent organization of XIG. Shortly after GUARD was formed, the construction of Aerial Base was planned and constructed. When the Aerial Base was completed, XIG, an elite branch of GUARD was created.

XIG (eXpanded Interceptive Guardians)

XIG (eXpanded Interceptive Guardians) is an Earth defense team under the command of GUARD. XIG is led by Commander Akio Ishimuro, and headquartered in the Aerial Base, a floating sky fortress, utilizing the Repulsor Lift technology created by Gamu Takayama, which allows the base and XIG's fighters to defy gravity. The Aerial Base hovers directly above in GUARD's Geo Base.

Operation Crew:
- Akio Ishimuro : 45 year old, Ishimuro is the commander of XIG and secretly awares of Gamu's alter-ego as Ultraman Gaia. He resembles Charles "Trip" Tucker III, the commander of battleship Enterprise NX-01 from Star Trek: Enterprise.
- Seiichiro Tsutsumi : 33-year-old. The Chief of XIG. He is a member of the Air Guard once, he was said to be the strategist of the team's best defense. Tsutsumi allowed to call out the face-to-face and his men almost always when the team called out, trust from the team for its thick. However, there is a little overprotective one side against subordinates.
- Gamu Takayama / Ultraman Gaia : 20 years old, Gamu is a member of Alchemy Star student whom recruited into XIG. He becomes the team's analyzer.
- Atsuko Sasaki : 21 year old, she is the operator of XIG. Initially, she had a favor with Kaijo from Team Lightning but quit after he has a good friendship with her sister. Though Atsuko sometimes care for Gamu, but she never developed a special relationship with him.
- Georgie Leland : The 20 year old American operator of XIG. She is Atsuko's friend and also known for her cheerful personality.
- Ayaka Ukai : The 20 year old part-time operator of XIG. The filling-vacant-positions staff of Atsuko or Georgie. Ayaka's uniform however different compare to Atsuko and Georgie.
Team Lightning:
- The elite Fighter Team who are the "Top Gun" fighters of XIG They are primarily a strike team. Team Lightning's helmets are plain white.
Team Falcon:
- The veteran Fighter Team who are experts in strategic air assaults. Their helmets have gray patches with yellow outlines.
Team Crow:
- A Fighter Team comprising entirely of female pilots. Their helmets are painted with red patches.
Team Hercules:
- XIG's ground assault Expert Team. They also wear plain white helmets.
Team Seagull:
- XIG's Expert Team specializing in any form of rescue. They wear plain white helmets, but their respective numbers are in navy blue.
Team Marlin:
- The sea-based Expert Team which is deployed for aquatic missions, be it scientific or assault-based. They wear a navy blue baseball cap and have their uniform shoulder pads in cobalt blue instead of regular yellow.

Alchemy Stars

A network of scientists formed by child prodigies born in the 1980s. Gamu and Fujimiya are members. Alchemy Stars was a scientist based network composed of child prodigies from around the globe. Later in the year 1997, the Alchemy Star scientist created Crisis, a future-predicting machine. Among the scientists whom contributed in the project was Hiroya Fujimiya.

Hiroya Fujimiya / Ultraman Agul : Back in the year 1997, he and other the Alchemy Star scientists created Crisis, a future-predicting machine. The machine predicted that the Earth be destroyed by the Roots Of Destruction. However, it also predicted that humans would be the source of mankind's destruction, thus leading Fujimiya and Inamori leaving the organization
Kyoko Inamori : 30 year old. Fujimiya's friend a lover. Back in the year 1997, she and other the Alchemy Star scientist created Crisis, a future-predicting machine. The machine predicted that the Earth be destroyed by the Roots Of Destruction.
Catherine Ryan : The development officer of a natural environment protection system.
Klaus Eckart : A founding member who is one of the designers of the CRISIS integrated-circuit.
Daniel Macffy : The chairman of Alchemy Stars.
Miku Asano : A specialist whose work involves ancient monsters. Gamu is his acquaintance

History

Final Battle Against Zogu The Root of Destruction

The Root of Destruction finally reveals herself in the form of Zogu, a giant, white angel. She kills the Kizer Dobishis that the Ultramen are fighting, and replenishes Gaia and Agul's power, only to completely overpower the two and make their Life Gauges expire. The two Ultramen turn back into Gamu and Fujimiya, which is telecast by the two KCB cameramen. The battle is broadcast across the entire world. They survive, but can no longer transform into Gaia and Agul.

Ultraman Tiga, Ultraman Dyna & Ultraman Gaia : Battle In Hyper Space

A young boy named Tsutomu, is failing in school from his addiction to Ultraman. One day, while watching an Ultraman Gaia episode, he gets teleported into a hyperspace where he sees a girl and behind her a scene of mass destruction. He later sees that same girl, named Lisa, in his class. Later on, he finds a mysterious glowing ball (Also from the dream) that tells him it can make any wish come true. The one thing Tsutomu wants more than anything else is to meet Gamu Takayama , Ultraman Gaia's human counterpart.

Ultraman Gaia : Gaia Again

Ultraman Gaia and Ultraman Agul return to fight a new enemy, Gakuzom. With help from mysterious undersea creatures, called Rinar. In the beginning Gamu goes back to school and gains much popularity by the students and soon is called back to XIG. He and the team are reunited. They go on a misson after getting a transmission in the ocean. Meanwhile Hiroya watches a report in America on Zonnel II. He is soon confronted on these visons of monsters called Baiakuhe, he is also confronted by a girl who tells him of what will happen to the earth.

Gaia has a counterpart from another universe who was born from human feelings instead of Earth energies.

Ultraman Ginga : Dark Spark War

Prior to the Ultraman Ginga series, Ultraman Gaia participated in the Dark Spark War but this time he fought not only alongside with the Ultraman Agul but, with the other Ultras and their allies against Evil side. In the War, Ultraman faced Zetton while in their midst battle, Dark Lugiel appeared and turned every Ultra alongside their allies, monsters and aliens into Spark Dolls just as the war about to end, Ultraman Ginga an unknown warrior appeared and faced Dark Lugiel but like others he also turned into Spark Dolls but he was kept within his Spark Device and fell alongside other Spark Dolls to Earth.

Gaia was among the Heisei Ultras imprisoned by Etelgar and Arina in the Evil Mirror. After being freed, he regroups with Ultraman Tiga and Ultraman Dyna, facing the chimeric monster Five King that manifested from the combined form of their traumas against past monsters (in Gaia's case, Gan Q and C.O.V). Gaia turned into his Supreme Version while Tiga changed into Power Type & Dyna changed into Miracle Type.
