30,000,000 years prior to the series, Ultraman Tiga and two other Ultra Warriors were ancient giants that protected humanity from countless catastrophes. The three soon laid to rest into giant statues and placed inside the Land of Tiga Pyramid. In the present day, two ancient monsters, Golza and Melba awakened and attempted to destroy the giant statues. GUTS members (under guidance by Yuzare's hologram) discovered these statues in the pyramid as well but during Golza and Melba's attack, one of the officers, Daigo, merged with Tiga's statue and reanimated the giant once more, fighting against Golza and Melba.
Daigo Madoka (Primary Users) / Ultraman Tiga
Daigo Madoka is passionately naïve, wide-eyed, eager, earnest and good-hearted, his possession of the DNA of the ancient giants led him to become Ultraman Tiga. Though not necessarily physically strong or particularly bright, he accepts and embraces his destiny to be Ultraman Tiga and shows that Ultraman Tiga's strength comes from his very human courage, love and spirit. Prior to the series, Daigo was only an ordinary TPC officer, that belonged to the transport division. He was recruited into GUTS by General Sawai after saving him from an invader's UFO. He believes that humanity is not a weak existence that always repeats old mistakes, but can make a brighter future for future generations. He fights to protect humanity and the world as Ultraman Tiga based on that reason.

Tsubasa Madoka (Second Users)
Tsubasa Madoka : Is the Neo Super GUTS rookie and is the protagonist of the direct-to-video Revival of the Ancient Giant. Aged 17-years-old, he is the son of Daigo Madoka, having been born 3 years after the conclusion of Ultraman Dyna and uses the pronunciation Boku when addressing himself. His personality is the same as his father, willingly used the strength he possess to help others. In the beginning of the story, Tsubasa originally went on a scouting mission while piloting the GUTS Eagle Alpha Superior.
Amui (Third Users)
Amui : Is an 11-year-old Sakimori villager and is the supporting protagonist of Revival of the Ancient Giant. He used the pronunciation Ora when addressing himself and was given the Tigu Emblem headdress by Izare that would serve as an important plot to the story. Amui was the resident who discovered Tsubasa's crashed GUTS Eagle before saving him and had the other villagers nurse him to health. When Tsubasa was unable to fight as Tiga against Jomonoid.
Hikaru Raido (Fourth Users)
During the Theatre Special, Hikaru Raidō the host of Ultraman Ginga used Tiga's Spark Doll to fight against Tyrant but as it seemed that he would be defeated due to his time limit, Tomoya summoned Jean-nine, assisting the Ultra Warrior in defeating Tyrant.
Kenta Watarai (Fifth Users)
Kenta Watarai : In order to assist Ultraman Ginga in rescuing Misuzu from Gray's influence, Tiga's Spark Doll was used by Kenta Watarai to help delay Super Grand King while Hikaru tried to reach Misuzu. He would later use the Spark Doll copy of Tiga against Alien Magma and Zetton in the extra episode.
Chigusa Kono (Sixth Users)
Chigusa Kuno : Would later use the Spark Doll when playing with her comrades but later participated in a fight against a group of five evil Ultraman, facing Evil Tiga. Ultraman Tiga and the other fake Spark Dolls would later reverted into Tomoya's sketchbook once the effects of cosmic ray radiation dried out.
GUTS (Global Unlimited Task Squad)

- Captain Megumi Iruma : The first female Captain in an Ultra series. She mostly stays in headquarters and leaves field operations in the hands of her deputy captain, Munakata. Her influence makes GUTS perhaps less militant than some of her superiors over at TPC, which provides some opportunities for dramatic tension.
- Deputy Captain Seiichi Munakata : A no-nonsense, chisel-faced commander. He was saved by Iruma back in his days on the defense force. He is a teetotaler who has a penchant for drinking milk at jazz bars and wearing a baseball cap in the field.
- Daigo Madoka / Ultraman Tiga : Was recruited for GUTS member by Mr.Sawai, Supreme general of TPC, when Daigo was working with TPC transportation division. He is the main character of the series; able to transform into the titular Ultraman Tiga.
- Rena Yanase : An action hero in her own right, being the best fighter pilot and no stranger to using heavy machines and artillery, and happens to have compassion for some of the monsters. Daigo's love interest, later becomes his wife.
- Masami Horii : The pug-faced, brainy, Osaka-dialect-speaking comic-relief technologist who finds love and gets married during the series. Known as the "Brains of GUTS".
- Tetsuo Shinjoh : The bland but tall and good-looking guy with a fan following. He has a younger sister named Mayumi, who is a TPC nurse. He is sometimes brash and hotheaded, but is also a bit of chicken and fears ghosts and supernatural things. He has formed a goofball combination with either Daigo or Horii.
- Jun Yazumi : Rounding off the crew is young Yazumi, the communications and computer expert who goes out into the field even less than Captain Iruma. When reports of a winged monster appearing from Easter Island, most of the GUTS crew attends to this.
TPC (Terrestrial Peaceable Consortium)
- Main Article : TPC
- General Souichiro Sawai : Known as the head and founder of the TPC, and a strong advocate of GUTS. A pacifist at heart, but also a rationalist in the face of the dangers that threaten humanity. Advocated the formation of TPC when he was the secretary general of the United Nations back in the 20th century.
- Military Police Director General Tetsuji Yoshioka : Is responsible for the enforcement arm of TPC. A war hawk, but also an old friend of pacifist Sawai. Often disagrees with Nahara, but never acts irrationally. A former submariner. He likes to carry and use a traditional folding Japanese fan.
- Mayumi Shinjoh : Is Shinjoh's 19-year-old younger sister who works as a nurse in TPC. She had a biker boyfriend who died in episode 15. She joined the organization with the help of her older brother.
- Professor Naban Yao : The founder of Maxima Overdrive, which can harness the power of light. A scientist at heart, he continues to pursue the dreams of his childhood. It takes him 20 years to turn his dream of creating the greatest ship ever into a reality (in the form of the Art Dessei).
- Professor Reiko Kashimura : The head of TPC's "Ride Mecha" R and D. She made several appearances in the first half of the series. She participates in the analysis of Yuzare's time capsule and the modification of GUTS mecha to combat. She also makes an appearance in Ultraman Dyna.
- Professor Yuuji Tango : An army scientist from TPC's Life Sciences Research division. He is small at heart but full of pride. He spends time analyzing the remains of the Tiga statues. His insecurities eventually lead him to trouble.
- Technical Officer Omi Yanase : Rena's father, the head of Station Delta. He has a bad relationship with Rena, at first. But they are reconciled, after he shows that he actually loves his daughter, when captured by Alien Regulan.
- Captain Shin Hayate : A poker-faced Captain of moon base Garowa. Flees to Earth when Garowa is annihilated by monster Menjula. An old friend and senior of Captain Iruma, who sees him as a great senior figure.
Dark Giants

- Kamila : Former Lover and the current leader of the dark giants and Tiga's lover in the past but said relationship turned into an unhealthy obsession due to the reason of Tiga's defection, as well as his reincarnation Daigo fell for another woman.
- Hudra : Former Brother in arms, a purple dark giant whose fighting skills revolves around aerial proficiency, while his human form displayed the ability of acceleration.
- Darramb : Former Brother in arms, a red dark giant whose fighting skills revolves around brute strength, which is also demonstrated in his human form. He was Tiga's close friend during his days as a dark giant, hence the English phrase "My Friend" and is the foundation of Tiga's Power Type. He is the first opponent to face Daigo when he refused to join their faction.

- Yuzare : Yuzare was the ancestor of Captain Iruma, the human lover of the original Ultraman Tiga and the A.I program that was placed in the time capsule by the original. It is stated by Camearra that Ultraman Tiga betrayed the Dark Giants due to Yuzare's words.
- Ultraman Dyna : Brother in arms, Successor and the main titular Ultra Warrior of his own series, whose origin in the story remains unknown to this day. Dyna first appeared in the series as a mysterious light that bonded with Asuka after his GUTS Wing was destroyed, which left the man floating in space
Ultraman Tiga Gaiden : Revival of the Ancient Giant
Tiga was once the leader of the Dark Giants, and was a great destroyer, but had since shed his shadow nature in favor of the light and turned on his comrades by sealing them in statue form behind a great seal. He eventually became the strongest of a trio of Ultra warriors among the Ultra colony which protected an ancient civilization on Earth. Tiga and his team saved the Civilization from countless catastrophes. After their duty was done, they were laid to rest inside a giant pyramid until the Earth needed them again. Their essences departed for the Land of Light leaving behind physical replicas of their forms for the future generation.
Ultraman Tiga : The Final Odyssey
Two years after Tiga defeated Gatanozoa, Daigo and Rena had become engaged with the date of their marriage fast approaching. However, due to TPC's folly the Dark Giants had awoken. Upon the intervention of Kamila; Tiga's former comrade, Daigo began having visions and nightmares until one where he was beaten by the human forms of the three Dark Ultras until he was given another Spark Lens and told to go to Lulu Island where Kamila and her loyal partners waited.
Ultraman Tiga & Ultraman Dyna : Warrior of Light
Although Daigo doesn't appear in the Movie, Tiga reappeared because of humanity's hope to save Ultraman Dyna, with both of the Ultra warriors managing to destroy Queen Monera. Tiga uses the Zepillion Ray and Dyna uses the Solgent ray and Queen Monera is defeated
Ultraman Gaia : Battle In Hyperspace
Just like before, this Tiga alongside Dyna appeared due Tsutomu's desire to save Gaia and to defeat King of Mons and his allies. All of this came about by a ball that granted wishes. Tiga battle Scylla and managed to destroy him with the Zeppilion ray.

Tiga appears to have a counterpart in the movie where he was born from human dreams.
Ultraman Ginga : Dark Spark War
Prior to the Ultraman Ginga TV series, Ultraman Tiga participated in the Dark Spark War with other Ultras that came from other universes against the forces of evil. In the war, Ultraman Tiga faced Golza but in their midst battle, Dark Lugiel appeared and turned every Ultra alongside their allies, monsters and aliens into Spark Dolls. With the war over an unknown warrior appeared and faced Dark Lugiel but like the others he was also turned into a Spark Doll but he was kept within his Spark Device and fell alongside other Spark Dolls to Earth. It was revealed that Tiga was part of Dark Lugiel's collection.
Ultraman Ginga : Final Episod
At the end of the episode, Tiga's Spark Doll was shown to held by Dark Lugiel. Dark Lugiel used the Dark Dummy Spark to corrupt Tiga's Spark Doll and turn him into his dark past self: Tiga Dark. Tiga Dark attacked Jean-Killer and severely damaged him so much that it made him revert back to his Human Host, Tomoya. At the moment Hikaru discovered that Tomoya was the one controlling the gargantuan robot, but while wondering who attacked him, Tiga Dark appeared before them. Taro told them it was Ultraman Tiga, Alien Valky tried to correct him, saying it was his "cooler" form, Tiga Dark but his speech fell on deaf ears, as he said it too far away from them.
Ultraman Ginga : Theater Special
Tiga appears in this special.He was shown in trailers fighting Tyrant. Hikaru Ultra Lives into him after witnessing Alien Icarus living several monsters and himself into the powerful kaiju. Tiga begins to fight with the monster avoiding being cut by Tyrants mace and tail. He then uses the Zepillion Ray, but only for Tyrant to use his Bemstar gorge to absorb it all until he couldn't do it no more, His timer also started to flash. Then Jean-Nine comes and rushes Tyrant and aids in helping Tiga.
Ultraman Ginga S Movie Showdown! The 10 Ultra Warriors!
Tiga was among the Heisei Ultras imprisoned by Etelgar and Arina in the Evil Mirror. After being freed by UPG, He & the Heisei Ultras teamed up with Ultraman Ginga & Victory, & he regroups with Ultraman Dyna and Gaia, facing an Eteldummy of the chimeric monster Five King that manifested from the combined form of their traumas against past monsters (in Tiga's case, Golza and Melba). Tiga turned into Power Type with Dyna in his Miracle Type & Gaia in his Supreme Version.
Ultraman X The Movie : Here Comes! Our Ultraman
Being sealed as a stone statue with a petrified Spark Lens and the Stone of Barraji, Tiga previously contained Zaigorg before he was released. The son of an archeologist by the name of Yuuto, found and kept the petrified Spark Lens. When Yuuto's mother was stuck under some rubble after Zaigorg's attack on the Carlos Communications building, he refused to leave his mother behind. Seeing this boy's sacrifice for someone he loved, Tiga lent the child some of his power to remove the debris. With Zaigorg making another attack, Yuuto held up the now revived Spark Lens and transformed into Tiga before any more damage could be done.
Ultraman Orb
Despite not appearing in the series, Ultraman was the one that sealed away Maga-Tanothor, the King Demon Beast of Darkness, in ancient times. Tiga's Ultra Fusion Card was collected by Gai Kurenai after the defeat of the monster and was used in present times to assume Ultraman Orb's Spacium Zeperion form. He did manifest in the real world via his Ultra Fusion Card for Spacium Zeperion's real-time transformation and also to help Orb finish off the Ultimate King Demon Beast, Magata no Orochi, by firing his Zepellion .
